Our Story

We are a group of first year students from the University of Sheffield School of Architecture. We are working to raise awareness on the recycling of coffee cups through a space hacking event at Fargate, Sheffield City Center on the 4th of May 2018.

The Project

Did you know that 5000 paper cups are thrown away every minute? Most people are unaware that only 0.24% of these cups are actually recycled. Due to the tedious recycling process, most "recycled" cups end up in landfills

​

Our team intends to create a new lease of life for these cups by turning them into an interactive installation as plant pots that can be taken home by the public. Through this, we hope to raise awareness on the proper recycling of these cups, as well as introduce creative opportunities for these cups to be reused.
